Leads the creation of VAT’s global packaging category strategy, in conjunction with cross-functional stakeholders across the company. This strategy is the basis of all decisions across the company, and must effectively meet the needs of the business VAT’s global packaging category strategy, in conjunction with cross-functional stakeholders across the company.
Create a packaging excellence & optimization plan that reduces cost and increase quality and process efficiency.
Mapping of damaged packaging cases, identify general issues providing solutions by implement improvement and registering process
Maintains and distributes market intelligence, stays abreast of the changing supply base & new technologies, and is able to effectively interface with engineering / R&D on supplier & component / material selection. Uses knowledge of category cost drivers and vendor innovation to drive exploration of lower cost / higher value design alternatives that still meet our end product marketing requirements (brand image, customer benefits, and safety).
Develop environmental and sustainability strategy for packaging materials.
Supports supplier selection, negotiation efforts, and contract development throughout the purchase process.
Mentors packaging allocated team members, to facilitate rapid development of their advanced tactical & operational skills.
Performs other duties & projects as assigned.
Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Engineering.
Certification from ISM or APICS.
Experience with Lean and/or Six Sigma manufacturing concepts a plus.
At least 7 years’ experience in management of packing materials and purchasing within a manufacturing environment.
Ability to identify a problem and lead an extended virtual remote team in a complex, global and multicultural environment to frame it, determine root cause, drive to potential solutions, build and present a business case, and communicate effectively to leadership to garner support.
Strong technical acumen around packaging requirements.
Customer facing experience in relation to packaging solutions.
Working knowledge and understanding of ERP/MRP systems and their use in a manufacturing environment.
Experience managing and taking action to achieve KPIs such as savings targets, average weighted delivery terms, etc.
Ability to get things done in a complex environment, using good judgement to make well-reasoned decisions, even with less than perfect information. Acts with a sense of urgency, and willingly takes on tactical roles as necessary to achieve objectives.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access
Ability to demonstrate solid presentation, written and oral communication skills
Languages: Fluent English and German language as a minimum
