The AO Foundation is a medically guided, not-for-profit organization led by an international group of surgeons specialized in the treatment of trauma and disorders of the musculoskeletal system. Founded in 1958 by 13 visionary surgeons, AO fosters one of the most extensive networks of currently over 20,000 surgeons, operating room personnel, and scientists in over 100 countries.
AORecon has been established as an initiative in 2014 by the AO Foundation as current demographics and rising case numbers of arthroplasty and periprosthetic fracture cases will lead to an increased need for education and expert advice within this field. AORecon focuses on joint arthroplasty and as such covers the elective surgery field within the AO Foun-dation's vision for improving patient care in musculoskeletal disorders. For detailed information on the initiative's activities please visit www.aorecon.org.
